XR6 Mossy Oak Break Up
FOXPRO XR6 With TX-5LR
Remote Control
 | The TX-5LR Long Range Remote control - FOXPRO's testing has indicated
ranges
of beyond 100 yards under ideal conditions (wide
open terrain). It also features
a backlit LCD display (one that will work down to well below
zero) that will light up and display the number of the sound
that you are playing. There is seven buttons on the
keypad--sound up, sound down, volume up, volume down, aux (used
to control the Jack In The Box decoy), mute, and send. The send
button is the button that you use to change the sounds. As you depress the sound up or sound down button,
the number in the display changes. The numbers will go from 0 to 15 on a model
XR6
(16 sounds). When you get to the number of the sound that you
want to play, depress the send button, and the sound will
instantly change to the new sound. The buttons on the keypad
glow in the dark, making them much easier to see at night. The
sound list will be located on the back of the transmitter. The
new Long range remotes will also feature an auxiliary button
that will be able to remotely control a decoy. When you depress the aux button, the decoy will start
moving. To stop the decoy, simply depress the decoy button
again. |
Works with the optional FOXPRO
"Jack-In-The box Predator Decoy
 | Click
Here to see a video clip of the new Jack in The Box decoy (takes
about 30 seconds to load on a dial up modem - worth the wait).
At the beginning of the video, you will see the decoy at its
normal speed. Then, the switch is selected to change the decoy
to a fast speed. The decoy features a switch that will turn on a
speaker that will play a rodent distress sound to the motion of
the decoy. There is also a switch that will allow you to turn on
an LED light that will illuminate the decoy for night time use.
There is a jack on the base that will allow you to connect the
decoy to your FOXPRO to give you the ability to start the decoy
with the press of the AUX button. A second press of the AUX
button will stop the motion of the decoy, and also stop the
rodent sound. There is also a delay switch, that when activated,
will delay the motion of the decoy for 60 seconds. While in the
delay mode, the decoy will move for 10-15 seconds, then rest for
5-10 seconds, and start again. The decoy can also be used
independently (without the need of the your FOXPRO remote).
Testing shows that battery life is about 60 hours in the fast
mode, and much greater in the normal mode. The decoy is
configured to operate on 4 "C" alkaline
batteries. |

Q: What type of
batteries are used?
A: The callers operate on 4 "AA" batteries, either alkaline or NiMH types. The so-called
"heavy duty" inexpensive batteries do not perform well.
Use high quality name brand alkaline batteries to power the
caller.
Q: Which batteries are
better - alkaline or rechargeable NiMH?
A: It depends. For most users, the NiMH batteries offer the
best long term value. They can be recharged hundreds of times
thereby saving money on replacement batteries. If the caller is
not used frequently, and is stored for weeks at a time, alkaline
batteries may be a better choice. Remember that NiMH batteries
have a self-discharge characteristic that causes them to loose
some charge even while not in use. Although alkaline batteries
offer slightly longer run times, when they are depleted, they must
be replaced. NiMHs are simply recharged. As you can see, this can
result in considerable savings over the years. If you don't
specify the optional NiMH batteries, your caller will be shipped
with alkaline batteries installed.
Q: Is the caller
waterproof?
A: No, not waterproof. We say splash proof. If you are
caught in a light rain, there is little need to worry. If you need
to use the caller in a driving rain, it is best to place it into a
plastic zip lock "baggy" to keep out the rain. This has
virtually no affect on the sound or volume. If the caller gets
very wet, wipe it off as soon as you can. You should also unscrew
the speaker to dry out any water that gets inside the caller.
Q: How well do they
work in cold weather?
A: Very well. Since there are no moving parts inside,
battery energy is not wasted on mechanical motion. However, we are
still subject to the physics of battery chemistry. Battery
performance is generally diminished at extreme cold temperatures.
The best batteries to use at severe temperatures are the
"AA" Lithium types intended for digital cameras. The
FOXPRO callers have been tested to -40 degrees with these
batteries.
Q: Can I specify the
order of the sounds to be programmed into my caller?
A: Yes. If you do not specify an order, we will group
similar sounds together. That is, all crow sounds will be
together; all coyote vocalization sounds will be together; etc.
Q: As these callers
are so small and lightweight, can they be loud enough to be
effective?
A: Absolutely, these callers
produce a volume level that rival most callers available today.
They are without a doubt capable of the loudness necessary for
adverse or windy conditions. Even crow hunters wanting to call
birds from the next zip code have been satisfied with the loudness
of the FOXPRO callers.
